It has been fairly cold the last few weeks here in Brisbane- and by cold I mean I need to put on a sweater and maybe wear closed toe shoes, but that hasn’t stopped me from getting outside the last couple weeks.
We got to check out a cool little ocean view hike with some good friends a couple weekends ago down on the Gold Coast at Burleigh Heads. It was a pretty windy day but absolutely GORGEOUS! It made me all excited for summer to hurry up and get here so we can start beaching it and scuba diving again!
The hike wasn’t long but it was exactly what I needed- feeling that fresh breeze and hanging out with some great friends. We even got to see more Humpback Whales off in the distance breaching and smacking their tales against the water.
As an extra special treat this week I got to see an old friend from my Miami high school days who is in Australia visiting the friends she made while on Contiki in Europe. Allyce and I played soccer and volleyball together back in the day and getting to spend some time with her reminded me of how fun those days used to be. She is getting to see so much of this beautiful country I get to call my second home and reminding me of how much I miss my first one.
We spent our Friday walking around South Bank and stopping for a yummy lunch at a Turkish restaurant- it was only fitting to eat something a little multicultural with her since she is such a foodie- check out her and her fellow foodie friends Instagram and see what I mean.
After lots of reminiscing, eating and ignoring our turkish delight dessert (not a taste either of us are fond of) we headed to the botanical gardens at Mount Coot-tha. I had never been there before so it was a new experience for both of us. They had lots to see and we spent some time by the Japanese Gardens and dodging the sprinklers. It was so nice to have a bit of home. We are excited to have Allyce and her Aussie mates over for a BBQ next week.
Summer is heading our way and I am so pumped to spend more time outside and regaining my long lost tan. Although I am sure once the heat is here I will miss these windy days with a bit of chill, we always want what we can’t have…isn’t that right?
