My Farewell Tour

My parents really know how to give me a proper send off. The Sunday before I left Miami for the last time they threw me a very small going away gathering with my very favorite people in South Florida. We played games and hung out and it was exactly what I wanted all of my favorite people getting to hang out all together. It wasn’t until the next day that the tears started flowing and keep leaking out every once and a while. Thinking about saying goodbye to my younger brother still bring tears to my eyes. He has become such a big part of my life since I graduated more than he ever was before. I think as you get older you begin to appreciate your siblings are more than just family, they become friends. After watching most of his baseball games this past season it breaks my heart that I wont be cheering him on from the stands. Image(Miami Crew)

First stop on what my parents coined as the “Abby Farewell Tour” was Birmingham, Alabama to stand next to one of my best friends as she married the love of her life. I met Grace when I was a freshman in college and going through sorority recruitment. It was because of this vivacious and fun lady that I became a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha. It was also because of her that I met my other best friend from Birmingham, Megan. These two girls have been such  constants in my life since my freshman year. The wedding was beautiful, and so was Grace. We all had a blast doing all the “bridesmaid activities” and I loved getting to know the other important women in Grace’s life. I also loved spending time with Megan who I can honestly say makes me laugh more than anyone else I know. Leaving Birmingham I was reminded how blessed I was the two years I spent there and how many people became big parts of my life.

The next stop on the tour was my cousins wedding in Atlanta. I really couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my last weekend in the states than with my entire family celebrating a new addition to the Thompson clan. Seeing all my cousins and aunts and uncles was such a treat since it has become so rare that we are all together. I am constantly reminded of God’s love for my by the people that are in my life. He knows what He’s doing. My cousin Rebekah and I have been fortunate enough to become really close in the last year, from taking a trip to Mexico to her coming to South Florida to spend time running around with me. She has become like a sister to me in so many ways and I am truly grateful for her advice and love. The hardest part was saying goodbye to my parents, without them I would have never been able to do this. They have raised me to be fearless and brave when going after the things I want and without that I never would have had the courage to live abroad. ImageMom

My last stop is here in California spending time with my older brother and sister in law. Its been nice to have some down time with these two who have lived so far away. Of course I am still in love with it out here and dad stop reading now…..I may just end up coming back here and looking for a job. Who knows? Only two more days in the states now I can hardly believe it. A day that I have been dreaming about for the past 5 months is finally here, my countdown is almost over, my life is about to change. Here I go!
